JioMart on WhatsApp for end-to-end shopping launched

Today, Jio Platforms and Meta announced the introduction of the first-ever end-to-end WhatsApp shopping experience, allowing users to purchase products from JioMart within a chat.

For the first time ever, JioMart on WhatsApp will allow users in India to easily browse through JioMart’s entire grocery inventory, add products to carts, and then pay for their purchases without ever leaving a WhatsApp chat. Recently, Meta rolled out Instagram to let users buy products directly from chats as well.

The rollout is a culmination of a strategic partnership between Meta and Jio Platforms that aims to speed up India’s digital transformation and give citizens and businesses of all sizes the chance to connect in novel ways, thereby promoting economic growth in the nation.

The JioMart on WhatsApp experience will change how millions of companies in India talk to their customers, said the company. The firm says it will also make shopping easier and more convenient than ever before.

How to shop on JioMart via WhatsApp

Simply texting a “Hi” to the JioMart number (+917977079770) on WhatsApp will allow users in India to begin shopping on JioMart. Customers will be able to peruse the JioMart product catalogue, add things to their shopping carts, and complete their transactions without leaving WhatsApp.

Speaking on the announcement, Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO, Meta, said in a Facebook post,

Excited to launch our partnership with JioMart in India. This is our first-ever end-to-end shopping experience on WhatsApp — people can now buy groceries from JioMart right in a chat. Business messaging is an area with real momentum and chat-based experiences like this will be the go-to way people and businesses communicate in the years to come.

Commenting on the JioMart WhatsApp shopping experience, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries, said,
