Google Pixel 6A launch may get delayed to July due to chip shortage

Google’s upcoming Pixel 6A smartphones may be delayed as the company is reportedly facing problems with supply chains and chip shortages. The budget Pixel device was originally rumoured to launch sometime in May, but the chip shortage issues may have pushed the launch to late July. With it, the Pixel Watch could see its launch also delayed to July.

The Pixel 6A and the Pixel Watch recently surfaced in a US carrier inventory system, which suggested that launch was imminent. The leak revealed that the Pixel 6A will be offered in 3 colours – black, white, and green and there will only be a 128GB model.

According to a YouTube video from Jon Prosser, sources indicate that Google is facing issues with chip supply, and as a result the Pixel 6A launch could get pushed to late July. The 6A is expected to be powered by the same Tensor GS101 chip that is present in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Sharing the SoC between three models could be problematic during a time when the chip shortage is still prevalent.

Coming to the Pixel Watch, the tentative launch is still expected to happen in May, however some sources indicate that the Pixel Watch launch too many be pushed. According to earlier leaks, the Pixel Watch has the codename “rohan” and it will be offered in 3 colours: gray, black, and gold.
