Apple Self Service Repair starts rolling out in the US

Apple has finally started rolling its Self Service Repair programme, after it was announced in November last year. This will provide repair manuals as well as genuine Apple parts and tools to people who want to repair their iPhones themselves via the Apple Self Service Repair Store. This action corresponds with initiatives to broaden access to repairs. Later this year the program will also include manuals, parts, and tools to perform repairs on Mac computers with Apple Silicon.

Self Service Repair is already accessible in the United States and will be available in additional countries, commencing in Europe, later this year. As of currently, the company’s programme only includes the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 models, and the iPhone SE (3rd generation).

A user who wishes to self repair their smartphone should go through the repair manual for the product they want to repair by visiting support.apple.com/self-service-repair. Then, they can visit the Apple Self Service Repair Store and order the necessary parts and tools.

Users can use the new online store for tools and parts, which offers over 200 individual parts and tools, allowing customers who are familiar with the complexities of repairing electronic devices to complete repairs on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 line ups, as well as the iPhone SE (3rd generation), such as the display, battery, and camera.

Additionally, customers will receive a credit for some repairs when they return a changed part for recycling. Apple will offer $49 tool rental kits, allowing users who are unable to purchase tools for a single repair to still have access to these professional repair tools.
